COMFORTBUD Design Institute LLC served as the general designer of the largest indoor aquapark in Eastern Europe, built in the village of Polianytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk region, on the territory of the Bukovel tourist complex.
The complex, covering approximately 18,000 m², is designed to accommodate 1,100 visitors simultaneously. It features a variety of panoramic pools, a water slide area, children’s areas, a wave pool area, a SPA area, an infinity area, as well as a restaurant and relaxation areas. A highlight of the aquapark is the large open panoramic pools on the rooftops with water heated up to +35°C, offering year-round views of Lake Molodist, the Ferris wheel, and the Carpathian Mountains.
The design process took about two and a half years and was carried out in close collaboration with German engineers specializing in aquaparks, as well as Ukrainian specialized companies supplying engineering and technological equipment.
The facility is extremely complex from an engineering perspective, densely equipped with utility networks, as well as technical and engineering equipment. To avoid potential errors and inconsistencies when installing utility networks and engineering systems, all project sections were coordinated in a BIM model. This also helped minimize construction time, allowing the aquapark to be completed in just over two years.
Key challenges of the project included complex hydrogeological conditions and the need to integrate the building into the mountainous Carpathian landscape.
All technical solutions implemented in the project meet international standards, including energy efficiency, fire safety, and inclusivity.
In February 2025, the “Mavka” Aquapark opened its doors to visitors and immediately became a true landmark of the Bukovel tourist complex. It is a unique facility in the tourism infrastructure, embodying modern design solutions by COMFORTBUD.
